Writers Retreat is a cabin nestled deep in the nature of Pebermosen, offering a writer an escape from reality and space to immerse themselves in their craft. The cabin’s compact and irregular morphology reflects not only the influence of the microclimate and passive low-energy strategies, but also the site’s genius loci, tactility, and sensory qualities.
Windows and doors enables airflow from west to enter the cabin in from all sides, except from the east. The western wind flows over the roof of the cabin, creating suction on the eastern facade, allowing the air to get sucked out of the window, placed just under the ceiling.
Most of the windows in the cabin function as frames, capturing distinct parts of the site’s character and activating focus by revealing only fragments at a time.
